Learn how to make paper beads to create jewelry and ornaments for the holiday season. We’ll be crafting & art making with up-cycled materials and more! Bring left-over wrapping paper, magazines, decorative papers, beads, string. We'll provide paper (all kinds), markers, colored pencils, and limited jewelry-making supplies and key rings. Matthew Pirrone, President of the East Chatham Grange, will be here to conduct a Pomona Grange Meeting. Members of the Subordinate Grange, Copake Grange 935, are invited to attend. It will be an opportunity to share ideas with our County Grange, find out more about what the Grange does on the State and National levels, and to discover and participate in our wider Grange community. Legislative proposals focused on topics related to rural and agricultural lifestyles and preservation of farms and farmland will be discussed. Lunch is provided and a $5 donation is suggested.

Come join us for a lively evening of songs about farming, rural living & the harvest! Mursey (Harry Hussey & Carolynn Murphy) kick off the evening with a few songs and then an all-star local bluegrass/country band will perform, featuring local singers and songwriters.Jamie Purinton of Bash Bish Bluegrass Band emcees this special harvest music event. The Grange and Copake Veterinary Hospital invite you to “Pets in the Park”, a Copake Falls Day event to benefit Animal Kind and Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue. Bring your favorite pet (dog, cat, lizard, goat- what have you!) to mingle and parade around at a beautiful location in the Taconic State Park. One day every year, the Copake Grange becomes the “Cupcake Grange.” It’s a sweet event, literally; the cupcakes are creative, confectionery masterpieces. There will be 1,000 cupcakes for sale at $1 apiece, and a competition for the Ultimate Copake Cupcake, announced at our Awards Ceremony at 1:00pm. There's nothing better than having a cupcake with friends and meeting new people. Join the cupcake brigade and be part of the baking and/or set-up/sales crew. Join the Grange & experts Marian Sole & Mayuko Fujino of the Alan Devoe Bird Club (ADBC) for a guided walk at Ancram's Sky High Farm. We’ll visit their 560-acre farm (formerly Sigler Dairy Farm) where we’ll learn about their regenerative farming practices, and how wildlife & bird and nature conservation helps to grow nutritious food. Founded in 1957, ADBC promotes the conservation of natural resources and the enjoyment and protection of birds, flora, and fauna. If you are new to fly fishing, or are already a pro, you’re sure to learn something new as he gives us a demonstration of fly lure tying, a history of fly fishing, area history and fishing area streams, and some do’s and don'ts. Then, enjoy a fly casting demonstration with audience participation. As Bill says “I’ve been at this for over 50 years. New discoveries are happening every day.” This event is FREE, and recommended for ages 10 through adult. Reservations (email copakegrange@gmail.com) are not required but recommended. Rods aren’t necessary, but you may bring your own.
