Our Classic Film Series returns. In conjunction with Martin Luther King Day, we will show "Mississippi Burning." This film, based on true events, is a fictionalized version of the FBI's search for the killers of three civil rights workers in the South in 1964. Watch the trailer here. Starring Gene Hackman, Willam Dafoe and Frances McDormand, it was directed by Alan Parker and won an Academy Award for best cinematography. The Two of Us Productions presents CLUE - The Comedy Murder Mystery. Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. At a remote mansion, six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy “whodunit” that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

Movie & Soup: “The Quiet Man”

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the Grange Classic Film series presents "The Quiet Man", a 1952 romantic comedy-drama directed and produced by John Ford, starring John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald.

After accidentally killing an opponent in the ring, boxer Sean Thornton leaves America and returns to his native Ireland, hoping to buy his family's homestead and live in peace. Instead, he falls in love with a fiery redhead, whose angry and spiteful brother tries to block the marriage.

The film features Winston Hoch's lush photography of the Irish countryside and won the Academy Award for Best Director and for Best Cinemotography. Classic Film Series organizer, Lenny Barham, will provide commentary and insights. Stay after the movie for dinner: soup, salad, bread and dessert. Movie admission is by donation. Dinner is $10.

Planting & Caring for Trees to Protect Streams

The Copake Conservation Advisory Committee and Copake Grange present an informational lecture on the many benefits of planting and maintaining native trees and shrubs along streams. Participants will also be provided with some tips for assessing the current health of their streamside areas, as well as resources to help maintain and improve the trees and shrubs along the streams nearby. The talk is led by Beth Roessler, Stream Buffer Coordinator for NYS DEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program, in collaboration with Cornell University’s Water Resources Institute. Since 2011, her work on the “Trees for Tribs” program has helped protect the water quality and wildlife in the tributary streams of the Hudson River. The program is made possible in part by Stewart's Shops and the Ackerman Foundation. This event is free and open to the public.

Cold Chocolate is a genre-bending Americana band that fuses folk, funk, and bluegrass to create a unique sound all their own. Featuring Ethan Robbins on guitar, Ariel Bernstein on percussion, and backed by some of the root's music scene's finest players, this group from Boston is impressing audiences throughout New England and beyond. Punctuated by tight harmonies and skillful musicianship, and with a focus on songwriting, Cold Chocolate has quickly gained recognition for their original music and high-energy shows. The band has shared bills with Leftover Salmon and David Grisman, and regularly performs at venues and music festivals across the country. All members are invited to gather for the lighting of the candles for the 4th night of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights.  It will include a "potluck" dinner, including latkes, jelly donuts, music, singing, games, stories, and maybe even a little dancing.  Please feel free to bring family and friends, as well as menorahs to light.  The event is free, but donations of holiday food to share will be most welcome, and donations of a little gelt for the Grange wouldn't hurt.

Nunsense - The Musical

The Two of Us Productions presents Nunsense - The Musical. The musical comedy follows five of the Little Sisters of Hoboken who, after returning from bingo, learn that their cook, Sister Julia, accidentally killed 52 convent residents with her tainted vichyssoise.  To raise funds for the burials, Mother Superior is inspired to start a greeting card company which is enormously successful. But after she frivolously buys a giant-screen TV and streaming subscriptions for the convent, she finds herself short of money for the last four burials. To raise money to bury the final four, they decide to stage a variety show in the Mount Saint Helen's School auditorium. Starring Kitt Lapaix, Constance Lopez, Karissa Payson, Lauren Letellier, and Nicole Molinski.

When her husband is killed in an accident, Edna Spalding (Field) finds herself alone and broke on her small Texas farm in the midst of the Great Depression. She must endure storms, harsh labor, and other trials to save the farm from foreclosure and protect her family. See the trailer here.
