Planting & Caring for Trees to Protect Streams

  • Copake Grange 935 628 Empire Road Copake, NY 12516 USA (map)

The Copake Conservation Advisory Committee and Copake Grange present an informational lecture on the many benefits of planting and maintaining native trees and shrubs along streams. Participants will also be provided with some tips for assessing the current health of their streamside areas, as well as resources to help maintain and improve the trees and shrubs along the streams nearby. The talk is led by Beth Roessler, Stream Buffer Coordinator for NYS DEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program, in collaboration with Cornell University’s Water Resources Institute. Since 2011, her work on the “Trees for Tribs” program has helped protect the water quality and wildlife in the tributary streams of the Hudson River. The program is made possible in part by Stewart's Shops and the Ackerman Foundation. This event is free and open to the public.
